My story

MeetLina

I came to this work after my own two births, knowing how much difference one steady, familiar person in the room can make.

As a mother of two, I understand the strength, vulnerability and beauty of birth firsthand. I know how quickly a room can start making decisions around you instead of with you.

Common questions

Common questionsabout doula support

A doula provides non-medical support before, during and after birth. I am with you through the preparation, the labour and the weeks after, for comfort, steady information and continuity, so you have a steady person beside you who already knows what matters to you.

A midwife is a medical care provider: they monitor you and your baby and handle anything clinical. I am not, and I never take a clinical role. A doula and a midwife have different roles and can work alongside each other.

Comfort and positions, counter-pressure and hip squeezes, the rebozo, breathing, a hand to hold, and keeping the room calm. I show your partner how to help, and when something is offered I help you understand what is being discussed and ask the questions you want asked. I do nothing clinical and I never speak for you.

No — the opposite. Most partners want to help and are simply never told how. I show them where to press and how, tell them what is happening and what is coming, and make sure they eat and sit down. A partner who is looked after can be present with you instead of standing at the wall.

It depends on the support you choose. The birth package covers the prenatal visit, on-call from week 37, the birth itself and a postpartum visit, and we go through the cost together on the free meet & greet. A non-refundable deposit secures your booking, and the balance is due before week 37.

Many people reach out in the second trimester, but you can contact me earlier or later. The meet & greet is free either way, and you decide afterwards.
